The apartment is in the Barcelona 'Poble Nou' district
Poble Nou is situated on the waterfront, between the Olympic Village (the Villa Olympica, originally built to house the competitors in the 1992 Olympic Games) and the Forum area at Diagonal Mar, with it's hotels, bars and large shopping complex.
It is a very pleasent walk into the city along the sea front, or you can just catch a bus (no.41) from outside the flat. The museums, art galleries and theatres are scattered throughout the central part of the city, and the amazing modernista architecture is everywhere.
The lovely Poble Nou Rambla (a smaller version of the main Rambla in the city centre) is next to the apartment block and here there are shops, supermarkets, kiosks and many restaurants and bars. At various times of the year there are fiestas with fireworks, parades, music and dancing in the street for all the family. The area is lively without being as noisey as the city centre.
Nearby there is a large covered market for excellent meat, fish, fruit, vegitables and cheeses, and every month there is a small street market where local produce and crafts are sold.
Across the road from the flat is a park with a play area for younger children, and nearby there are areas for skate boarding, table tennis and basketball
